The United Arab Emirates and Qatar are likely to restore diplomatic ties in coming weeks.

This was announced by Qatari foreign ministry spokesman Majed bin Mohammad Al-Ansari while addressing a press conference in Doha.

He said that work is underway between the Qatari and Emirati teams to reopen their embassies as soon as possible, however; exact date to be announced upon the finalization of the process.

The UAE had cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in 2017.
