Govt announces 8th interim Wage Board Award

PTI Government has announced 8th interim wage board award to address media persons' difficulties.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, while addressing a news conference in Islamabad this afternoon.

She said 325 percent increase equal to 8,500 rupees has been proposed for special grade, 306 percent equal to 6500 rupees for Grade 1-4, and 355 percent equal to 5,000 rupees for grade 5-8.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said it is a step forward for permanent award. She said the interim award is being announced after having consensus of all the stakeholders.

The Special Assistant said Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to provide workers their due right. He said the government has fixed minimum wage as 17,500 rupees, which shows prime minister's determination in this regard.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government is also going to announce a media and advertising policy on 14th of August in consultation with all the stakeholders.

The Special Assistant said a committee will be formed to bridge gap between government and media owners for permanent wage award.

She said government has proposed grants for press clubs and news agencies in this budget under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said Prime Minister's dream regarding supremacy of constitution and rule of law will be fulfilled.

To a question, she said budget guarantees national security and defence of Pakistan and it will be passed by the representatives of people. However, government will welcome constructive amendments by the opposition for the benefit of people.
