A three-day anti-polio campaign begins in Karachi, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Azad Kashmir on Monday.
In Karachi, the anti-polio drive will continue for six days.
Approximately two point three million children under the age of five years will be administered anti polio drops in one hundred eighty-eight union councils of the city. Over nine thousand polio teams will participate in the campaign.
Meanwhile, in a statement Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmad Khan said that foolproof security measures will also be chalked out.
He urged to make sure that every child of less than five years benefitted from polio drops during the campaign.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas, more than six point seven million children up to five years of age will be administered anti polio drops during the campaign.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, Polio teams will also be available at railway stations, bus stands and public places to ensure administering anti polio drops to each and every child.
Special security measures have been chalked out for security of polio teams.
Balochistan Coordinator Emergency Operation Centre, Syed Faisal Ahmed told our correspondent today that during the upcoming drive two point four million children up to five year of age would be administered polio drops.
Replying to a query, he said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for protection of mobile teams across the province.
Meanwhile, Coordinator of EPI in Azad Kashmir Dr Bushra Shams told our Muzaffarabad correspondent that point seven five million children upto five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops.
Over two thousand one hundred mobile teams, besides four hundred ten fixed centers and one hundred forty transit points have been set up for this purpose.
Polio control rooms have also been set up at district level at Deputy Commissioner Offices.
Teams would also be available at bus stands, markets and vehicle checking points to ensure vaccination to the children with passengers.
Coordinator of EPI said Azad Kashmir is polio free from the last seventeen years.
