Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has emphasized the need for consistent reforms in the parliamentary process and mistakes of the past must be corrected.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 18th Speakers Conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he highlighted the complexities of a speaker’s role in balancing the demands of government and opposition.
Ayaz Sadiq called for training workshops for universities and colleges to educate students on parliamentary procedures.
He stressed the significance of the Public Accounts Committee in ensuring transparency, sharing that billions of rupees were recovered through PAC recommendations.
The Speaker also advocated for legislative bodies to focus on pressing issues like climate change, economic stability, and unemployment.
He said we must institutionalize this forum to ensure continuity, unity, and collective progress.
Addressing the conference, Speaker Sindh Assembly Awais Qadir Shah said the Speaker must be impartial, unbiased and neutral for smooth functioning of the house.
He termed the Speaker's office as a bridge among the members of the House.
Awais Qadir Shah called for taking prudent measures to tackle the issue of misinformation.
