Renowned Poet, Intellectual and Broadcaster, Iftikhar Arif has said that the medium of Radio has broad spectrum and represents diversity in culture, language and communication.
In an exclusive interview with our Radio Pakistan Cultural Correspondent Sajjad Parvez, he said despite of introduction of new mediums of communication, in current era Radio has honor to retain its place in people’s hearts as it reminds us lost glory and magnificent past of arts, culture, literature and music of bygone era.
While paying rich tribute to the Radio Pakistan for the promotion of arts, culture, music, and literature in the country, he said several outstanding personalities including Patras Bokhari, Saadat Hasan Manto, Noon Meem Rashid and Nasir Kazmi remained associated with Radio Pakistan and still the institution has been playing a role of an academy to produce talented people in every field.
Highlighting his memories, Iftikhar Arif said he started working with Radio Pakistan as a newscaster in 1965 and received ten rupees per news bulletin in those days which was considered a handsome amount.
He said Radio Pakistan played the role of a mentor in his life and he has great emotional attachment with it.
