NDMA issues severe weather alert for Rawalpindi, Islamabad
April 20, 2025

A localized weather system has developed over Islamabad and Rawalpindi, bringing strong winds, isolated rainfall and possible hail over the next eight to ten hours.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, heavy rain and strong winds may cause weak trees to fall and result in temporary power outages. Wind, dust storms, and hailstorms can damage poorly constructed structures, rooftops, vehicles, and power lines. Hailstorms may also harm crops and pose risks to outdoor structures and glass surfaces.

Additionally, reduced visibility may increase road accident risks.

Tourists are strongly advised to stay updated with latest weather forecasts. Before, travelling, check road conditions and avoid unnecessary journeys during periods of heavy rainfall. Stay vigilant in landslide-prone areas and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
