The United States and Saudi Arabia have welcomed the restoration of diplomatic ties between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry welcomed the move and acknowledged it as a testament to the robust relations among the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

US State Department Spokesman Matt Miller in a statement said this is another important step to promote regional stability and mutual cooperation.
