Pakistan has achieved another milestone of establishing a first ever system for monitoring its greenhouse gas emissions.

This was informed at a three-day forum titled ‘Transparency Platform for Pakistan: A Climate Transparency: Knowledge Sharing, the Climate Transparency project in Pakistan, held in Islamabad.

The forum was organized by Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordiantion’s Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre.

The system will enable measurement, reporting, verification, monitoring and evaluation of the greenhouse gas emissions in the country.

It will be an IT-based solution that will help collate scientific evidence from across the country on carbon emissions causing environmental degradation for informed policy making and course setting to achieve internationally pledged commitments and targets.
