World Children's Day was celebrated on Saturday with the renewed pledge to improve children's welfare and promote international togetherness for this cause.
This year, the day was observed under the theme: 'A Better Future for Every Child'.
In their seprate messages on the occasion, President Dr. Arif Alvi and the Prime Minister Imran Khan have reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to safeguard children.
In his message, the President said the Government remains committed for protection of every child from poverty, violence, and abuse.
In his message, the Prime Minister said the Government is determined to ensure that every child's rights, including development, education, healthcare, participation, dignity and security, are upheld.
He said in order to ensure protection of children's rights, incumbent government established "National Commission of the Rights of Child" and the "Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Agency".
The Prime Minister said Child Protection Institutes are being established and various laws are being enacted to eliminate child labour.
