Kuwait’s new emir, Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Sabah was formally sworn in before parliament today.

The new Emir in his inaugural address pledged to safeguard the country and its people, adhere to constitutional principles.

He said Kuwait will maintain its Gulf regional and international commitments.
