Punjab Assembly has approved a bill seeking a comprehensive ban on kite flying, accompanied by stringent penalties for those who violate the law.
According to the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, kite flying has been declared as a non-bailable offence and violators will face a minimum of three years to a maximum of seven years imprisonment.
Fines imposed for kite flying, as well as for the selling and transportation of kites, would range from five hundred thousand rupees to five million rupees.
