June 21 marks historic milestone in Kashmir’s political struggle
June 21, 2026

Twenty-first of June marks a historic milestone and a profound symbol of struggle in the political history of Kashmir.

On this day in 1931, a young dynamic leader, Abdul Qadeer, openly challenged the oppressive Dogra regime through his historic speech in Srinagar, laying the foundation for public political awareness.

Abdul Qadeer became the voice of the Kashmiri people at a time when truth was heavily suppressed and the concept of political rights was almost non-existent.

During his address at Khanqah-e-Muala, Abdul Qadeer urged Kashmiris to unite for their fundamental rights and raise their voice against tyranny and injustice.

Following his speech, Abdul Qadeer was arrested on twenty-fifth of June in 1931. However, instead of silencing the public, this arrest served as a catalyst for a full-fledged mass movement.
