Analysts hope an inclusive government in Kabul will lead to peace and prosperity in Afghanistan
August 21, 2021

Mansoor Ahmad Khan (Pakistan's Ambassador to Afghanistan): Peace and stability in Afghanistan is vital for Pakistan. Only way to make Afghanistan a peaceful and prosperous country is to take all stakeholders on same page for establishing the new government with participation of all groups. The next government in Afghanistan has to take action against the militant groups operating in that country and using Afghan soil for their nefarious agendas. It is hoped that a new government in Afghanistan will not only be acceptable to Afghan people but to the neighboring countries as well. Overall security situation in Kabul and surrounding areas is satisfactory, and life is returning to normal in the capital.

Dr. A. Z. Hilali (IR Expert): It is unclear to talk about future of Afghanistan at this point of time. Afghan Taliban have changed the name of the country to Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. This time the Taliban have come up with moderate thoughts. It is a good omen that present Taliban leadership is listening to the concerns of the world and addressing it in an appropriate manner. Taliban are trying to create their soft image in front of the world. So far, the decisions of the Afghan Taliban are good for Afghan people as women are allowed to work in media and politics. Moreover, the Afghan Taliban have also been engaged in negotiations with former Afghan leaders including Hamid Karzai, Abdullah Abdullah and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar for peaceful formation of the government. Many countries including China, Russia, Pakistan and even Great Britain have been optimistic for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan in future. Islamabad has already cleared its narrative that it has no favorites in Afghanistan. Another good development is that Afghan Taliban have ensured the neighboring countries that Afghan soil will not be used against any other country.

Brig. (Retd.) Ghazanfar Ali (Defense Analyst): India has been using terrorism as state policy for the last many decades. It is also part of Indian policy to blame Pakistan for any terror activity. Present Indian government under the leadership of fascist Narendra Modi has crossed the limits of human rights violations. India is the country that killed its own soldiers just for the sake of sympathy votes in election and alleged Pakistan for the Pulwama incident. India has manipulated fake media houses in many countries to malign and defame Pakistan. The world is aware of the fact that rape cases and human rights violations within India and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir are at peak. The UN has reported that Indian atrocities in IIOJ&K are the clear evidence of Indian brutal policies. Yet the world is silent just for the sake of its commercial interests with India. The Indian leadership is like animals in the form of human beings and is still claiming India as world's largest democratic state. The nexus of RAW and NDS in creating instability in Pakistan and efforts to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor has been exposed in front of the world. The Taliban have assured that their soil will not be used against the neighboring countries. We think what Taliban said they would implement it.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Asif Yasin Malik (Defense Analyst): Some elements have been celebrating the victory of Afghan Taliban too early. The United States wanted to impose an American way of life in Afghanistan but they were totally wrong as Afghan traditions are very old. So far, Pakistan has adopted a mature policy as far as recent developments in Afghanistan are concerned. In the past, Pakistan was accused of supporting Taliban and Islamabad is facing the consequences of it till now. However, the world has acknowledged Pakistan as key stakeholder in the region. Afghan Taliban, if they come into power, must focus on establishing state institutions including army, police and judiciary as no country can develop without these. Pakistan can play an important role in this regard and can support the new Afghan government in establishment of proper state infrastructure. The previous government in Afghanistan supported anti-Pakistan elements, including TTP, BLA and others, to use Afghan soil for evil designs against Pakistan. Afghan Taliban have assured Pakistan and other neighboring countries that they will not let militant organizations operate against any other country using Afghan soil.
