Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has described planned protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as part of deliberate attempts to spread chaos and create instability in the country.
Commenting on PTI’s call for protest, he said the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is misusing public funds for the political demonstrations.
He said the Ministry of Interior had already written a letter to the Chief Secretary and IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, clearly stating that government's resources cannot be used for political purposes.
Referring to the Islamabad High Court’s ruling, the Information Minister said that the court has not granted permission for any protests or sit-ins, urging that any attempt to engage in such activities would be illegal.
Attaullah Tarar further said an attempt to storm Islamabad is beyond the reason. He warned that there will be no tolerance for any kind of unlawful gatherings, and strict action will be taken against those who would take law into their hands.
The Information Minister criticized PTI for its previous disruptive actions, such as the 2014 protests against the Chinese President’s visit and similar calls for protests during high-level foreign visits, including the upcoming visit of Belarusian officials.
Attaullah Tarar was surprised over the motives behind PTI's protests and asked as to what is the real reason behind these protests?
He said PTI's motive is clear as it wants NRO for its leader, who is facing multiple legal cases. He said PTI wants to stop Pakistan’s progress, halt economic stability, and to keep on its anti-national agenda. He clearly stated that the government will not allow this to happen.
