Analysts hail growing ties between Pakistan and the United States

Najamuddin Shaikh (Former Foreign Secretary): The conversation between Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is very important in improving Pak, US relations. The US had chosen India as a strategic partner, but they are equally interested in building their relationship with Pakistan. They want to expand relations with Pakistan in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education and people to people contacts. The influence of US on international financial institutions like IMF, and World Bank can augur well for Pakistan. The image of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is very positive in the US. In order to increase trade with the US, we need to improve the quality of our exports.  

Zulfikar Ali Bader (Spokesman Foreign Minister): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had a very successful visit to the US where he highlighted the challenges being faced by Pakistan at global platforms. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari advocated the case of Pakistan effectively and took India to task on its human rights violations in IIOJ&K. In today’s conservation with US Secretary of State, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the assistance of the US in flood relief and rehabilitation activities. Pak, US relations which had suffered during the tenure of previous government are now steadily improving. Now, Pakistan is fully engaged diplomatically and the US stands alongside Pakistan on many issues. US supported Pakistan in getting out of FATF and also gave its support to Islamabad at international financial institutions.
