The National Assembly today passed various resolutions, including recommending the government to take immediate steps for media training, controlling overbilling, and empowering people.

A resolution moved by Syed Ali Qasim Gillani urged the government to take steps to devise and provide media literacy training in schools and colleges for countering fake news on social and electronic media across the country.

Another resolution, moved by Ms. Sharmila Sahiba Faruqui Hashaam recommended that the government should take immediate steps to control over-billing by DISCOS in the country.

The third resolution moved by Ms. Aliya Kamran called for prioritizing inclusivity and diversity, with a particular focus on empowering people with disabilities and supporting marginalized communities.

Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan's resolution stressed the need for establishing Software Technology Parks all over the country in order to promote IT business among our youth.

The House, also passed a resolution moved by Ms. Sehar Kamran strongly condemning the incessant Israeli brutal killings of innocent women and children in Gaza and its recent deadly attacks in Lebanon.

The National Assembly also passed "The Seed (Amendment) Bill, 2024" and "The Banking Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2024".

Besides, several bills, including "The Pakistan Nursing Council (Amendment) Bill, 2024", "The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2024" (Article-140A"), "The Pakistani Climate Refugees Rights and Protection Bill, 2024", were also introduced.

The Chair referred the bills to the standing committees concerned.

Responding to a calling attention, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry said the government is paying pension to the eligible pensioners of Radio Pakistan, except 109 retired employees, whose credentials are under verification process.

He, however, assured the House that the rest of the pensioners will also be paid off, after necessary verification, within weeks.

The House will now meet tomorrow at 11 a.m.
