Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed government's commitment to strengthening port efficiency, boosting trade, and ensuring sustainable economic development.

He was chairing a high-level consultative meeting on enhancing the efficiency of Karachi ports by improving hinterland connectivity in Islamabad on Friday.

Ahsan Iqbal said resolution of challenges confronting ports are vital for national economic growth.

He directed the formation of a committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Planning, Port Qasim Authority, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, National Highway Authority, and Ministry of Railways, which will present a consensus-based solution within two weeks.

The meeting was given a detailed briefing on improving port efficiency.
