South Korea is holding its first nationwide air defence drills in six years today amid growing tension in the Korean Peninsula.

The drills are a key element of the annual civil defence exercises and Freedom Shield drills attended by South Korean and US troops to improve responses to a North Korean attack or other contingencies.
