Former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China and the United Nations and former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan says the foundational principle of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement remains intact and the alliance is not in jeopardy.

In an article in Al Jazeera Arabic, he said Pakistan is bound by two defence agreements with Saudi Arabia, which include the 2025 Pakistan-Saudi Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the trilateral Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye .

He said both defence agreements are based on the principle that an armed attack against one signatory is considered an attack against all.

He said Pakistan firmly stands with Saudi Arabia while continuing its consistent policy of promoting dialogue, de-escalation and mediation for regional peace, including between Iran and the United States and between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
