The Governor of Punjab, Muhammad Balighur Rahman, has reiterated the government's commitment to upholding religious freedom and ensuring equal rights for minorities in Pakistan
He was talking to a delegation of the Sikh community from the United States and Canada, who called on him in Lahore on Saturday.
The Punjab Governor expressed that the minorities in Pakistan enjoy religious freedom and are entitled to the same rights as any other citizen. He emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive and tolerant society that respects the diversity of its population.
He also conveyed his deep concern over the atrocities committed against innocent civilians, particularly women and children, in Palestine. He described these incidents as extremely painful and underscored the need for international efforts to address and alleviate such humanitarian crises.
During the interaction, Dr. Ashok Bavra, a prominent member of the Sikh community, acknowledged and appreciated the recent International Punjabi Conference held in Lahore. He commended the efforts invested in promoting the Punjabi language, emphasizing the significance of such initiatives in preserving and celebrating linguistic diversity.
