A New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has called on the Indian government to end its brutal crackdown on media in the country particularly in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

The group on its twitter handle said press freedom remains under attack even as India tries to project normalcy in Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

Observers have described the measures as India's attempts to silence the press from reporting about the realities in the region.
