Coordinator, Punjab Emergency Operations Centre, Khalid Parvaiz, has said that polio cases in the country have declined significantly due to effective government measures and the dedicated efforts of polio workers.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s correspondent, Qasim Bukhari, on the occasion of World Polio Day, he said the day highlights the importance of recognising and appreciating the contributions of frontline workers, whose dedication and tireless efforts are vital for eradicating polio.
He said only seven polio cases had been reported across the country this year, while no cases had been reported in Punjab.
He said the absence of poliovirus in environmental samples collected from Lahore and Rawalpindi is an encouraging development.
Khalid Parvaiz said the next anti-polio campaign in 13 designated districts of Punjab would begin on November 2.
