Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Malik has reaffirmed commitment of wildlife protection and animal welfare.

The resolve to this effect was expressed in a ceremony in Islamabad today.   

The ceremony was organized in connection with the successful rehabilitation of a seven-year-old Asian Black Bear 'Rocky' who was rescued from a brutal past.

Rocky's heartbreaking story came to light after a viral video revealed his appalling condition following 35 forced dog fights in Sargodha. Severely injured and unable to eat due to a broken jaw, he was rescued through the collective efforts of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Four Paws International.

Upon learning about Rocky's condition, the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination actively facilitated his rescue, ensuring swift action. With the Punjab Wildlife Department's request for assistance, IWMB and Four Paws International intervened, safely sedating and transporting Rocky to the IWMB Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, where he received critical medical care, including wound stitching, neutering, and microchipping for identification.

Today, Rocky was successfully shifted to his new enclosure, marking a significant milestone in his journey to freedom.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, along with Secretary Ministry of climate change, remains steadfast in its mission to protect and rehabilitate wildlife, ensuring a cruelty-free and sustainable future for all species in Pakistan.
