Transparency being ensured in projects of rehabilitation, reconstruction in flood affected areas: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says transparency is being ensured in all projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction in flood affected areas.      

He was chairing third meeting of International Partners Support Group in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said third party validation will be ensured in every project in flood hit areas.                         

Expressing gratitude to international partners and donors for their support during floods, the Prime Minister said each and every penny will be used for rehabilitating the flood affectees.

Shehbaz Sharif said we will complete the IMF program and there will be no deviation from it even after the caretaker government takes charge as constitutional term of incumbent government will end next month.

He said we have put in a robust framework to ensure that IMF program is completed.

He said the challenges are daunting but we are committed to come out of the conundrum of borrowings and achieve self-reliance.

Briefing the international partners about the steps taken by the government towards this end, Shehbaz Sharif mentioned the newly formed Special Investment Facilitation Council which is aimed at attracting foreign investments and creating conducive environment for this purpose.        

He said we have chartered our goals for economic revival with agricultural development, increasing investment and exports and development of IT sector as key focuses.         

The Prime Minister said in this journey of economic self-reliance, we need support of our international partners in terms of technical expertise to enhance our production in agriculture and attracting investment

The meeting was briefed about progress on rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood-affected areas in the context of Resilient Pakistan Conference held in Geneva on January 9.
