Chaudhry Tariq Farooq of PML-N has been elected Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

He secured 33 votes against his rival Chaudhry Khadim Majeed of PPP, who secured 13 votes.

Later, he took the oath of the office. Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar administered the oath to him.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Raza Qadri of PML-N has been elected Deputy Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly.

He secured 32 votes, while his rival, Amir Abdul Ghaffar Lone of PPP, received 13 votes.

Speaker Chaudhry Tariq Farooq administered the oath to him.
