Naela Chohan (Former Ambassador): Traditionally our relationship with the United States evolved amid a sense of insecurity from our big neighbor who has not recognized Pakistan from its core of heart. Pakistan played very important role in fight against USSR when USSR invaded Afghanistan and later terrorism. However, unfortunately, Pakistan’s image was tarnished when the US used the term Af-Pak. Even then our relations with the US should be based on firm foundations and they must not be related to terrorism alone. I think that it will be fruitful for the US if we expand our relationship to new horizons. So for as Pakistan’s relations with Netherlands are concerned, I would like to say that Netherlands opened a trade office in Thatta, Sindh some four hundred years ago. Dutch people used to run Midway chain hotels in Pakistan even in 1948. Pakistan is sixth largest non-European partner of NetherlandsIt is very important to enhance bilateral cooperation in information technology, industry and other sectors.Dutch people are very welcoming, therefore we should focus on increasing the number of Pakistanis in Netherlands. We must focus on knowledge, technology and even training of diplomats. 

Dr Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert): Pakistan and the United States enjoy relationship which benefit the countries. The US has played significant role in Pakistan’s agricultural and industrial sectors. Pakistan and the US were allied to each other in the international war on terror. Economic relations between both the countries are very strong as the US supported Pakistan in economic uplift. Pakistan also supported the US on several crucial occasions especially in the Cold War era.
