Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain launched Pakistan's first official moon sighting website and Hijri calendar in Lahore on Sunday( today).

Speaking on the occasion, he said an android application for moon sighting will also be available on google play store from Monday.( tomorrow)

He said information provided by the Moon Sighting Application is valid for five years.

Chaudhry Fawad said it can be ascertained with the help of technology that when and where the sighting of moon will occur.

He said Moon Sighting Application will also benefit the Muslims living in other countries.

He said according to the newly developed Hijri Calendar, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on 5th of next month.

The Minister said the new Hijri Calendar has been sent to the Council of Islamic Ideology.
