Iran says technical talks with Oman on mechanisms for maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz have made positive progress.

In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the two sides discussed mechanisms to ensure the safe passage of shipping through the strategic waterway while respecting the sovereign rights of the two coastal states during several rounds of talks in Tehran.

Esmaeil Baghaei said shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains normal, with no change in maritime traffic through the vital shipping lane.
