South African equality activist Desmond Tutu dies at 90

South Africa’s Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist for racial justice and retired Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town Desmond Tutu passed away in South Africa on Sunday at the age of 90. 

He was a close ally of South Africa's great leader Nelson Mandela and fought alongside him against apartheid.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deepest condolences on the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

In a tweet on Sunday, he said Archbishop Desmond Tutu was an icon of anti-apartheid struggle and champion of human rights.

He said his critical role in liberation and national reconciliation are an inspiration for future generations.

Meanwhile, reactions are pouring in from all over the world.

The African National Congress, Tibet's spiritual leader Dalai Lama, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Nelson Mandela Foundation, Prime Minister of the Western-backed Palestinian Authority Mohammed Shtayyeh and other leaders lamented the death of South African leader Desmond Tutu.
