The UN General Assembly has adopted the United Nations Convention against Cyber-crime to protect societies from digital threats.

The landmark legally binding treaty marked the culmination of a five-year effort by UN member states.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the adoption of the Convention and said the treaty is a demonstration of the collective will of Member States to prevent and combat cyber-crimes.
