On the directions of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Maryam Aurangzeb, flood relief cells have been established in Radio Pakistan's Headquarters Islamabad and all other broadcasting houses across the country to play their effective and active role in the ongoing relief activities for the immediate relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.
In this regard, Radio Pakistan has launched an emergency SMS service and special transmission for live callers including flood affected people and those who want to help them.
Flood affected people who are in need of any type of help can send their messages on Radio Pakistan's SMS service '4471'.
Radio Pakistan will forward these messages to relevant departments for relief and rescue operations.
During its marathon transmission, large number of flood affected people participated through calls to seek different kinds of assistance. Philanthropists and representatives of NGOs are also participating through live calls to show their willingness for donations. Meanwhile, the analysts are appealing the nation and international bodies to help flood affected people in any possible way.
To furnish the directions of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Radio Pakistan developed a system of live calls in their studios on modern lines to make communication more effective amongst relief agencies including district administration and district flood control rooms engaged in the relief and rehabilitation activities in the flood ravaged areas.
Under this system, representatives of the aid agencies will be able to provide better guidance to the flood victims after taking their direct calls and messages.
Through various special programs of Radio Pakistan's News and Current Affairs Channel, analysts have called upon the officials of National Disaster Management Authority to send their representatives to the relevant stations of Radio Pakistan to provide guidance to the flood victims by taking live calls and messages.
