First Lady Samina Alvi says empowerment of women by making them self-dependent is vital to make them play a productive role for their families as well as the society.

She was addressing the opening ceremony of annual charity bazaar of Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association in Islamabad today (Saturday).

Samina Alvi said the government has taken various measures for women’s self-dependence.

Earlier, in his address, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood said the event provides an opportunity to the diplomatic community to project the culture of their respective countries.
