Israel and Hezbollah have reached a ceasefire agreement effective from today.
The ceasefire was brokered by the United States and France.
Lebanon Council of Ministers has welcomed the ceasefire decision, saying it is a fundamental step towards establishing stability in Lebanon and returning displaced to their homes.
The US President Joe Biden, who made remarks at the White House shortly after Israel's security cabinet approved the agreement in a 10-1 vote, said he had spoken to Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
He said that Israel will withdraw its forces over 60 days as Lebanon's army takes control of territory near its border with Israel.
