Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a five-year Transport Policy.
She accorded this approval while chairing a meeting in Lahore.
The meeting decided to introduce latest automated rapid transport system throughout the province.
She said that government wants to complete the automated transport system in four years. She said that introduction of modern transport system is necessary to give a touch of modernity in every city.
She said that the modern transport system will improve living standard of public.
During a briefing, the meeting was told that automated rapid transports system is a successful system being run in Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and other place around the world.
It was told that the modern transport system will need less space on the road than a normal bus. The bus will be comprised of three coaches with capacity of more than three hundred passengers.
This system will be introduced in ten cities in three phases each. In the first phase, the system will be launched in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala amongst other major cities.
