Youm-e-Takbeer was observed on Saturday with national zeal and zest, to commemorate the 24th anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted at Chaghi in 1998.
This year's theme was "Na Jhuky thay na Jhuken gay".
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has already announced ten-day celebrations on the completion of 24 years of the nuclear tests.
In a statement, Foreign Office said the nuclear tests not only demonstrated the resolve of Pakistani nation to safeguard territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of the country, but also the desire to preserve strategic balance in South Asia.
The statement said Pakistan is committed to the promotion of environment of peace and stability in South Asia, while preserving its capability toward off any aggression or adventurism in any form.
Pakistan is a partner in international efforts to strengthen the global non-proliferation regime based on the principles of non-discrimination and equal security for all states.
It also adheres to the latest international standards on export controls and maintains highest standards of nuclear safety and security.
