In Canada, voting for Khalistan Referendum is being held today.
Sikhs for Justice, a US-based group, has been granted permission by the City of Calgary to hold a non-binding referendum vote at the Municipal Plaza.
In an interview, the Mayor of Calgary Jyoti Gondek said city council cannot stop voting after the objections raised by the Indian government.
Mayor said she does not see the Khalistan voting as an issue as those involved are carrying out a legitimate, democratic exercise and it’s not for her office to sanction lawful events.
