Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan's decision to remove Farooq Sattar as convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
Justice Amir Farooq reinstated Farooq Sattar as the party's chief until the court decides the petition filed by him against the Election Commission’s decision.
Advocate Babar Sattar, who represented Farooq Sattar in the court, argued that the Election Commission does not have the jurisdiction to interfere in a political party's internal matters.
Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission, MQM-P Bahadurabad gorup leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Kanwar Naveed Jameel, and ordered them to submit their response by 11th of next month.
