Dr. Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig (Economic Expert):Economic policies of the incumbent government have resulted in turning around of economy in many sectors. The measures have resulted in increased economic activities, bolstered large scale manufacturing and small and medium enterprises. The initiatives have also substantially improved revenue collection, increase in remittances, and surplus in current account balance. Subsidised loans being provided to ordinary people will boost the construction activities and create employment opportunities even in post-Covid environment. Similarly, the introduction of Roshan Digital Accounts has helped increase the volume of remittances through legal channels.
Dr. Salman Shah (Advisor to Punjab Government on Economic Affairs):Most important thing is that PTI government has brought economic stability in the country. Appreciation in price of dollar has been checked and rupee is stabilizing, resulting in reduction of inflation. All indicators point out that not only foreign, but domestic investments too will increase in the country. Pakistan has won war on terror and incidents of terrorism have stopped. This will result in employment creation for masses and the nation will move towards prosperity. In addition, every Pakistani is going to get roof over his head due to liberal construction policy of the government. Current Account Deficit has become surplus and the government has given incentives to exporters. Unlike past, when foreign loans were used to subsidize dollar, this government has given free room to currency exchange. This will help not only foreign exports but also domestic production.
Barrister Ali Zafar (Legal Expert): The scandal of Broadsheet brought bad name to the country as it had some unscrupulous characters involved. Dispute went to arbitration and it was apparently settled. However, the payments were made to another entity that proved to be fictitious. The basic question is that why was the agreement made, and why the dispute was not followed through proper legal course. It was stated that records disappeared from NAB Office, law ministry and other important offices. It is all shrouded in mystery still and a thorough investigation is required to ascertain the people who were responsible for causing loss to national exchequer.
Riaz Fatiana (PTI Leader): The scandal of Broadsheet emerged during the tenure of previous government. However, the government has established an inquiry commission to probe the matter. As and when the inquiry commission completes report, the government will not hesitate to make it public.
