In India, jailed Muslim leader and former MLA Mukhtar Ansari has died in a jail.

According to local media, prohibitory orders under section 144 were imposed across the Uttar Pradesh following Mukhtar Ansari's death.

Earlier, on Tuesday, his brother Afzal Ansari publicly revealed that Mukhtar Ansari was given food mixed with a poisonous substance.
