Islamabad High Court (IHC) has acquitted PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Captain retired Safdar in Avenfield Reference case.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case.

It may be added that an accountability court had convicted Maryam Nawaz and Captain retired Safdar in the Avenfield apartment reference in July 2018. Maryam was given 7 years, while her husband was awarded one year of imprisonment in the case.

Later, talking to media outside the Islamabad High Court, Maryam Nawaz described her acquittal as triumph of truth. She said the entire Sharif family has faced the accountability bravely. She said it was a long trail, but today the truth is before the masses.

She thanked the judges of the Islamabad High Court for dispensing justice in the case.
