In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has reiterated that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing that violence and oppression offer no solutions.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Mirwaiz stressed that the political dimensions of the Kashmir dispute demand sincere and sustained engagement through dialogue.
Mirwaiz urged the Indian government to reassess its approach to Kashmir, recognizing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He called on both India and Pakistan to take constructive steps, such as reopening trade routes and improving connectivity, to build confidence and create a conducive atmosphere for peace.
Meanwhile, BJP-led Indian government’s ongoing policy to dispossess Kashmiris of their properties and suppress their political voice under draconian laws, authorities in IIOJK have targeted the assets of thirteen people in Kishtwar district.
This latest action is part of an ongoing and intensifying campaign to seize properties from Kashmiris following the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019.
Analysts say these seizures, carried out under various pretexts, are part of a broader strategy aimed at altering the demographic composition of the territory.
