Pakistan Railways has devised long-term strategic plans to improve service quality, enhance safety standards and ensure sustainability in revenue generation.

Railways spokesman told the APP, that the Railways will induct around eighty new high-capacity freight wagons and thirty two passenger coaches this year which would help increase the revenue of the department.

The department has also assembled 92 freight wagons at Mughalpura Workshop Lahore during the last three years.

He said besides, 508 more freight wagons will be assembled at Mughalpura Workshops and Pakistan Locomotives Factory, Risalpur next year.

The official said that as many as 184 new passenger coaches would also be assembled at Pakistan Railways Carriage Factory, Islamabad during the next three years.

To a question, he said Pakistan Railways is planning to launch a high-speed express train between Lahore and Karachi, similar to the Green-Line Express.
