The 7th meeting of the steering committee on wheat imports for Food Year 2026-27 was held in Islamabad with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.

The Committee reviewed progress on wheat import arrangements and directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with the acceptance of the lowest bid(s) for procuring the remaining 185,000 MT of Sindh's wheat requirement.

Ishaq Dar further directed the Governments of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promptly arrange the requisite payments and complete the tripartite agreements with TCP to ensure timely execution of the import process.

He underscored that the imports would ensure adequate wheat supplies at reasonable rates to provide maximum relief to the people.
