In India, farmers of Punjab and Haryana states have started 'Punjab Bandh' campaign to press for their demands as the Modi-led government fails to address their grievances.
Following the call for the 'Bandh', complete shutdown will be observed across Indian Punjab today.
In solidarity with the farmers, markets and higher educational institutions will remain closed while exams have already been suspended.
Transporter associations and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee which is responsible for management of Gurdwaras have also expressed support for the farmers.
Accordingly, public and private transport will remain suspended and the Gurdwara committee's offices will remain closed today.
