January 31, 2025

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has won Oxford Union Debate, securing one hundred eighty votes, by successfully challenging the structural inequities against Global South embedded within liberal democracy.

Participating in the debate, he exposed the double standards and systemic oppression that continue to hinder economic justice, political sovereignty, and climate equity for nations of the Global South.

The Minister also underscored the miserable plight of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine and stressed the world to recognize their inalienable right to freedom and self-determination.

He highlighted the climate injustice perpetuated by liberal democracies and said Global North contributes over eighty percent historical carbon emissions.

Alluding to the devastated 2022 floods that caused thirty billion dollars to Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal said so-called champions of democracy offered loans instead of grants, effectively forcing Pakistan to finance its own destruction.
