The 15th death anniversary of a prominent Urdu fiction writer, translator, journalist and author of several reference books, Syed Qasim Mahmood was observed today.

Syed Qasim Mahmood was born on 17 November 1928 in Kharkhoda, Rohtak district.

He launched various journals under the names of Monthly Afsanah Digest, Student and Science Magazine and published Islamic Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Astronomy, Encyclopedia Ajadah and Encyclopedia Pakistania.

He died on this day in 2010 in Lahore and was buried in Johar Town.
