In the United States, Mayor of New York City (NYC) Eric Adams has allowed mosques in city to amplify Azaan at Jumma prayers and at iftar time during holy month of Ramadan.

Addressing a press conference in New York, Adams said under new rules, mosques would not need a special permit to publicly broadcast Azaan on Fridays and at sundown during the holy month of Ramadan.

Muslim leaders have warmly welcomed the decision as a historic moment. An Imam recited the Azaan on the occasion that echoed in the City Hall.
