Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the welfare, dignity and social protection of senior citizens.

In his message on the International Day of Older Persons, being observed today, he said the invaluable lifelong contributions of senior citizens play a pivotal role in shaping the social, economic and moral fabric of national life.

The Prime Minister said the government has introduced digital verification for pensioners and is expanding the scope of the Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution and financial assistance to eligible seniors under the Benazir Income Support Programme.

He said ensuring access to healthcare facilities and strengthening social protection systems for the elderly remain key government priorities.
