November 01, 2019

Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says the government is implementing a reform agenda to improve judicial system and ensure dispensation of speedy justice.

She was talking to media persons after visiting District Courts Islamabad on the direction of the Chief Justice Islamabad High Court on Friday.

The Special Assistant said the government brought women inheritance law and code of civil procedure to ensure provision of property rights to women and decision of civil cases swiftly.

She said ordinances have to be promulgated for public welfare because the government is facing difficulties in legislation for lacking two-thirds majority in the National Assembly.

Expressing dissatisfaction over working condition at the courts and the facilities for litigants, the Special Assistant said she would play her role for provision of the necessary facilities.

She said road map for improving district courts in Islamabad is part of CDA's new master plan.

Responding to a question about the protest March of JUI (F), the Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting regretted it is the first time that a march has been organized to protect the corruption.

She said the opposition feels no pain of the masses but they are scared of the reforms and welfare agenda of the present government. She said the world institutions including the World Bank are also acknowledging the improvements brought by the government on the economic front.

She asked the organizers of the march to respect the agreement reached with the government and not create difficulties for the residents of the capital.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government has not created any hurdles in the way of the JUI (F)'s protestors rather provided them all the facilities including water and electricity to the protest place of their choice. She said the government has fulfilled its democratic posture but lamented that the opposition parties which never get tired of preaching the message of democracy have taken out a rally against a democratic government.
