76th Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan celebrated

The 76th Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour on Wednesday.

Felicitating the people of Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar- ul-Haq Kakar said seventy-six years ago, the brave people of the region showed great valiance and courage against the Dogra Raja under the leadership of Captain Mirza Hasan Khan and Subedar Major Babur.

The Prime Minister said the independence of Gilgit-Baltistan is our asset and pride and a unique achievement of its kind.

He said the people of the region with their unconditional, unparalleled and great level proved that we will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the development and stability of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said the brave people of Gilgit-Baltistan made it clear on the enemy forever that the region was, is and will always be a part of Pakistan.

He said the government will always play its full role for development, peace, prosperity and development of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to continue to extend full political, diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris until they get their right to self-determination as per the UN resolutions.
